Our Story:
Built From the Ground Up
New World was founded in 1972 by Jerry and Becky Moore in Cloverdale, California—after a logging injury forced Jerry to leave the woods and follow a new path. Tinkering in a small garage shop, he began making waterbeds with his brother, eventually turning a side project into a thriving business.
While others chased trends, Jerry and Becky focused on doing things the right way. They built a factory from the ground up—without loans. They worked twelve-hour shifts to fulfill orders. And when the industry faced shakeups, lawsuits, and even defective vinyl from a major supplier, the Moores didn’t quit. They doubled down on quality, stood behind every product, and personally answered the phone when customers called.
Their values became the backbone of the company: resilience, accountability, and care for the people we serve.
Still Here. Still Innovating.
Today, New World continues to operate with the same spirit. We’ve expanded our capabilities and serve customers across the U.S.—but we’re still family-rooted, still proudly manufacturing in California, and still doing business with our name on the line.
1940
Jerry Moore is born to a logging family in Idaho.
1950-1960s
Jerry meets Becky, a legal secretary. The two marry young and begin building a life rooted in hard work and mutual respect.
After an injury on the job, Jerry explores a new opportunity: waterbeds. He partners with his brother, working in a small vinyl-sealing shop and installing a waterbed in his own home—despite Becky’s skepticism.
1971
1972
With only four employees, New World hits $500,000 in annual sales, manufacturing thousands of airframes.
1974
Late 1970s
New World produces 13,000 airframes per year and reaches $780,000 in sales. The Moores weather lawsuits, rising material costs, and warranty issues—all while refusing to compromise on customer service.
1975
Despite industry turmoil, New World continues to operate with transparency and integrity, even replacing products based on a phone call alone.
Jerry and Becky found New World Mfg Inc, officially incorporating the business and focusing on “Airframe” waterbeds.
Sales drop due to material failures. With only $10,000 left, the Moores make an offer to creditors—and survive.
Still family-rooted and proudly American-made, New World Mfg Inc delivers quality products across industries—from tank liners and mattresses to specialty fabrications. The legacy continues.
Jerry begins custom vinyl sealing, shifting into niche manufacturing beyond waterbeds. The company evolves while keeping craftsmanship and service at its core.
The Moores purchase 30 acres and build a factory in Northern California. Financing is tight, but through relentless effort, they continue expanding production.
